Sourcing from the Organic Farm:
Naturally matured coconuts that have fallen to the ground on their own are sourced from a farm located in Vangal village, Karur district, Tamil Nadu. The farm spans 10 acres and is irrigated using water from the Cauvery River. The coconut trees are of a pure native breed and are nearly 30 years old. The farm is chemical-free and maintained through organic and sustainable practices, including soil mulching, rainwater harvesting trenches, cow dung manure, fermented oil cake residues, amirtha karaisal, and more.
The farm has cows supplying cowdung and the raw materials to make the fertilizers like amirtha karaisal. To know more about making of organic fertilizers, please visit here
Impacts around chemical based coconut farming:
More hazardous chemicals are used at chemical based coconut farming to control pests like Rhinocerous Bettle, Red Palm Weevil, White Flies. More detailed writeup around the chemical way of coconut farming here
Highlights:
Organic Source. Oil extracted from organic coconuts.
Traditional Oil Extraction Methods. Cold pressed in the grinding unit made of stone and wood.
Farm made.
Natural Aroma. As the oil is grinded from fresh nuts, the oil has natural aroma and tastes better.
Preservative Free.
Cold Pressed. Grinding unit(chekku) is made of stone and the plunger is made of Albizia Lebbeck(vagai) wood. Albizia Lebbeck wood is considered medicinal and being used for oil extraction since ages.
Small Batch Processing. Processed in small batches and hence receives more attention. From dehusking until oil extraction and natural settlement it takes 20 days.
Impacts around Factory Based Methods:
Copra used for oil extraction is not always organically grown.
Processed at high temperature. The grinding unit is totally made of steel and run at high speed to facilitate faster extraction of oil. As a result, the oil gets heated to high temperature, loosing its natural aroma, taste and certain nutritional value as well.
Extracted oil is refined.
Usage of sulphur. Sulphur is used to protech the half cut copra from fungus and to retain the white color on longer storages. It is nearly impossible to store half cut copra, that is widely used for oil extraction without the application of sulphur. Sulphur is applied when the coconut is half cut and before drying and/or at the storage unit before stacking at the godowns.

Our Sustainable Approaches:
Labels for our products are cloth based and working on exploring the feasibility of printing the labels with natural dyes made of seeds as well as using wooden printing blocks.
We buy back the PET bottles from our customers and deliver them to a factory. This factory then transforms the used PET bottles into fiber which are then knitted into jerseys and mosquito nets. More about how the fiber is made out of PET bottles here,
